THE QMER LEARNING COMMUNITY: GET INVOLVED

You want to stand out in your program. We want to do top-level research. Both...And.

QMER was started by professors who know there is a lot we just can't cover in graduate classes. The kind of stuff that differentiates you in your research and on the job market.

Our purpose is to support and develop research skills for graduate students. We believe in holding ourselves to our highest potential, working smart, and keeping a broad mind. Our goal is not to simply prepare you for the job market, it is to help you stand out in it.

The best way to learn how to research is to uhh...actually do research. So we provide the guidance, techniques, data, and projects to get going. No, you don't need special skills. No, you don't need another semester to figure it out. All you need is the will and an open mind.

We offer workshops that are open to all and free, to teach techniques to be successful in graduate research. We also run research teams to apply these techniques. We think it is ok to learn broadly, pursue what motivates you, and build your CV at the same time.

The first step is to join the workshops. The next step is to join a research project.

As you progress, we offer the following officer positions within QMER below. It is part of our plan to maximize your professional skills and CV while in graduate school:
