Workshops are free, open to all, and can be joined at any time in the semester. Learn what is not covered in your classes and get to know your colleagues. You only do graduate school once (hopefully), make the most of it.

HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE & EFFICIENT GRADUATE STUDENT

Graduate School requires a different kind of 'student.' If you are just taking your classes you are doing it wrong. We focus on the professional skills needed to: 

  1. Stay on top of your classes & use them effectively 

  2. Develop & write your dissertation as you go

  3. Identify and build the skills needed to get the job you want

At some point you need to go on the job market. Be prepared and build your Cover Letter and CV as you go. We discuss strategies that hiring committees look for and how to walk out of your program ready to go.

LOCATING EXTERNAL FUNDING

Securing funding can be hard to do, but there are more resources than you'd think. We discuss where to look and how to apply for external funding. Plus it looks great on your CV!

Networking is key to finding a job. Learn how to build your scholarly identity and make it known in a semi-painless manner. We'll cover:

LONGITUDINAL MODELING

In this advanced methods session, we cover the basics of longitudinal modeling, including using long-form data, basic model assumptions, and how to run survival analyses.
